Ola, the popular ride-hailing cab aggregator, recently announced a major operational shift by fully transitioning from Google Maps to its proprietary mapping service, Ola Maps, effective July 5. This decision follows closely on the heels of the company’s exit from Microsolt’s Azure platform.

CEO Bhavish Aggarwal took to Twitter to share the news, stating, “After our exit from Azure last month, we have now fully transitioned from Google Maps to our in-house Ola Maps. This transition has allowed us to eliminate our annual expenditure of ₹100 crore.” Ola is aggressively pushing forward with the development of solid-state batteries, intending to integrate these innovative cells to power their electric scooters by next year.
